It’s only 8:30…er…7:30, and I can already sense that it’s going to be a very long day.
You know what is not a good night to stay up late to watch a movie that doesn’t carry a “G” rating for once? The night the clocks fall back.
Extra hour my ass. Once you have kids, turning the clock back is the realtime equivalent of “one step back, two steps forward.” Not only are the kids’ circadian rhythms pretty much going to guarantee that they get up at the same time as always (if not earlier due to the unexpected sunshine), they’re also going to be staying up an hour later at night since their bedtime fell back along with everything else.
So, yeah, that Bourne movie marathon I indulged in last night probably wasn’t the smartest idea I ever had. But I’m still blaming whatever genius thought it would be a good idea to mess with the clocks in the first place. I’m willing to betthat he didn’t have kids. Maybe he’d like to come watch mine while I catch up on those extra hours I’m missing.

Can you send him over my way when he’s done watching yours?

I’m sure he didn’t have kids, and definitely not cows that still want to be milked at the same time. (Not that I would know anything about milking cows, but I was reading this agricultural article, and apparently, it’s a big deal for farmers.)

Oh but the joys of living in an apartment, that not only do you have do deal with your unholy monsters in the early morning, you have to deal with everyone else and their monsters at the ungodly hour of 5am. I know that whoever’s idea this was in the first place is gonna get a great big karmic kick in the ass

Yup. First year I actually groaned when I figured out what the “extra hour” actually meant for me.

Ugh! This morning, the Bee came in to my room to inform me that she was ready to take her piercing earrings out and to replace them with actual earrings.
At 5:30 a.m. The ‘new’ 5:30 a.m., that is.

Haven’t you learned by now that mommy should never stay up an extra couple hours? When you DON’T do it, they will sleep.. but when you do indulge, it’s mommy time at 5am!

I wasn’t sure if the iVillage comment would post, so I’m leaving this one in response to the headache dilemma and not having any adult meds. In the future, you can take the children’s medications…just with a much higher dosage. A lot of kid meds are the same as the adult formula (like Tylenol), but in a much lower dosage. An adult dosage of two Tylenol will be between 750 mg and 1000 mg depending on whether or not it is Extra Strength. So, you can adjust the kid’s version to get the quantity of medication. Granted, it may take half the bottle, but you know, when you’re in a pinch, it will work!
