Snow Day!

Posted by Kimberly on December 17th, 2007 — Posted in Diva Girl, Kipple

You know, I’m not averse to the concept of a snow day;it can be an exciting experience–all of the joy of a day playing hooky with none of the nasty consequences of getting caught.

However….A snow day on the heels of a sleepunder that was preceded by a day of Birthday Hooky seems to be a bit much for a Mom to get excited about, if you ask me.

In the insult to injury category, if Diva Girl still walked to school, she’d  be in her desk right now in her new, inappropriately sloganed shirt, eagerly absorbing knowledge rather than parked in front of the Olsen Twin’s Christmas classic “To Grandmother’s House We Go” in her swimsuit, decorating the Christmas tree box.  This is all the school bus’ fault.  Magic, my ass.

LMAO!! In her swimsuit… sounds like my 9yo daughter too. :O) BTW… my sympathies.

Quite honestly, Snow Days suck for us. The kids love it but as a work at home Mom it just doesn’t work in our house. Glad to hear it went reasonable in yours.

Haha…hilarious. But, her swimsuit?! You guys obviously have amazing heating in that apt! :)

Shayna beat me to it. A child in a swimsuit in my drafty old house would soon be a charming shade of blue, a walking goosebump, an object lesson to younger siblings.

A source of dark amusement to a weary parent.

We live on the top floor of one of those buildings where the walls are built out of 3 feet of concrete. When it gets cold in here, it gets very, very cold, but that happens rarely. They wear their swimsuits around here more often than you’d imagine :)

Hi Kimberly,

I’m unsure if you want to give me the password, and I understand if you don’t. If you do then, I’d love to read this post, if not then I’ll continue to read the more public ones.
Thanks again for being so nice to me a few weeks ago! I’m hoping for a good 2008 for all!

P.S. I use Catinthebox or Cat, b/c it’s long leftover from a weekly column I had in college.

P.P.S. Loved the santa photos! My Mom has taken a picture of my brother and I every year on Thanksgiving. Over the years, it’s grown to include cousins, spouses and now even babies! It’s a wonderful series to see how we’ve grown year to year and I know your daughters will adore it later on!

Longtime reader, very irregular commenter here. I’d like very much to read your password protected entry. Especially having seen the title and tags — much of what I remember about my childhood reminds me of what you write about Diva Girl, and I love reading about how you love, struggle with, and fight for her.

Hi Kim! I’ve been catching up, and would like to say that the yearly treks to Santa will be wonderful memories for your girls. When I was growing up, it was Victoria Park and the Christmas lights for my birthday!

The birthday party, love that you love Bree’s new friends!

And the snow day…..I wanna take a bus!

Now, could I have a password, please?

Thanks!

momx5…..who’ll all be home in less than a week!
