I'd eat the ice cream. AND I'd eat it right there in front of them, savouring every spoonful. And when the indignation surged, I'd say, "I finished my tuna. When you finish yours, you may have some." And then I'm smile and tell them I *know* they can do it.

I'd call that motivation, no? And to any claims of "not fair" (though utter nonsense), I'd ask "So what's fair about ME not getting dessert just because YOU don't want to eat your dinner?"

I ate someone's chocolate Easter Bunny last night. I consoled myself by saying that obviously they didn't want it because they would have eaten it already. I don't know which kid lost a bunny last night but I'm already prepared to blame the dog when it comes up.

ROFL After reading the comments I am soooooooooo happy that I am not the only mother who waits until the kid goes to bed...or hides in order to eat something that my child doesnt need. And the apple pie and ice cream for breakfast...GUILTY! Since I share a bedroom with my daughter..I'll hold out as long as I can, get some ice cream..sit on my bed with my back to her and eat. She is none the wiser. And since she is still in a crib, she cant escape and catch me. LOL

If you get up before they do and can hold off until tomorrow, ice cream makes a very good breakfast food--especially a flavor like strawberry. I mean, there's dairy, fruit, probably eggs--it's practically a breakfast smoothie! And don't even get me started on the virtues of apple pie for breakfast....

I'm with Leslie. I am known to eat chooclate cake while squatting in between the bed & nightstand to hide from my child.

I don't share cake.
